Growing up in Thatcher and going to college there we had our multiple hang outs and different gathering spots that everyone loved to go hang out at! Most of these places were out in the middle of the desert so we could have bon fires and what not! but this one was by far one of the most fun to go to! It was i believe the old Rolling Stones Mansion and it had a natural hot springs and an olympic size swimming pool and was such a beautiful huge mansion, and i can't even count how many pima paloozas we went to there, just so many memories! But what made it fun was that we would go so late at night and there was this man that stayed in a small trailer close by that would guard it. So we would park so far away because the road was locked, and sneak up to the mansion. And once we were far past the trailer we would go swim and hang out! But the man in the trailer was so mean and if he heard people try to sneak by, he would actually shoot, probably up in the air, but at midnight you get all worked up and it is so scary! But to get to the point, last weekend it totally burnt down and is gone! I couldn't believe it, and any of you that have ever lived in thatcher, have probably been to this mansion and know what i'm talking about! But i guess we have to say goodbye to The beloved Mansion!

That hurts me to see... So sad, so many memories there. Where did you get the pic by the way? I've been trying to find an old ea pic at the mansion, but I don't even think I have any. I was thinking of making a post "honoring" the mansion too! haha :)
how sad! Just think of all the future EA/Thatcher students that will never have the chance to experience the rush of being "shot at" in the middle of the night while trying to get to the mansion. At least we got to enjoy it!
can you believe i've never been there... we always talked about going and i never did! when are you coming back?? come see me and bring your mom! :)
You got ot be kidding me! How sad! I too had lots of fun crazy memories there! Some we made it to swim other times we would go runnning to the car for what we thought were our lives! Those kids are going to miss the thrill! How did it burn? and what is that old man going to do now?
That is SOOOO sad, I had lots of fun memories there. MaryAnn you have never been there?? That is so sad!! I loved that place.
I couldn't believe it either! Oh man, I remember breaking in and practically peeing my pants cause I was so scared, while walking all around the mansion. Good times. So sad that it's gone.
That is only going to make the place seem even spookier! But what a sad tradition that future EA goers won't have a clue about!
Sounds like you had lots of great memories there. I'm very sad for you.
Noooo! I can't believe it! How did it burn down? So many people are going to miss out....
So so sad!!! Those future EAC students will be missing out on a ton of fun!! oh the memories!!
I hate to see that pic. The mansion was so much fun. There was actually one night that Phillip got permission for that man and we had a huge E.A. party there. So many fun memories for sure! Thanks for the update. When are you heading to Thatcher again? Will you be there for easter?
This comment is not about the mansion. Sorry. It's in response to your post on my blog about a shower. I think it would be AWESOME to have one in Thatcher...but that would be a lot of work for you especially since you don't live in Thatcher? But if you're bored and want to...I'd LOVE IT! My sister-in-law talked about doing one in Mesa but nothing is set yet.
